NEWS: Ryan Beswick Announced as Reds Manager

Quorn are delighted to announce that Ryan Beswick will be taking over the Managerial reigns, following the resignation of Ant Carney last week. Beswick confirmed that he plans to continue playing, and will retain Matt Green on coaching staff. Since joining last summer, Ryan has made 25 appearances for the Reds, scoring seven times from midfield.

“I’m still enjoying playing, and not ready to hang my boots up yet” stated Beswick “but at the same time, management feels like a natural next step for me, so this opportunity was too good to pass up. Lavs and Ant did a great job last season, leading us to the playoffs, but we feel as though there’s unfinished business here, and we want to go one better this season.”

“Retaining Ryan as a player is massive for us” said General Manager Liam Turner, adding “but gaining him as a Manager as well is also a bit of a coup for us. We know he’d had offers to play at step three, but we’re hoping that he’s going to lead us there on the pitch.”

After starting as a youngster with MK Dons, Beswick came through the ranks at Leicester City, where he enjoyed a loan spell with Redditch United. After leaving the Foxes, Beswick spent time at Kettering Town and King’s Lynn Town before joining Solihull Moors.

After helping the Moors win the National League North, wearing the captain’s armband, Beswick scored their first goal in the National League, making over 230 appearances. A spell as captain for Nuneaton Town followed before joining their rivals Tamworth, making over a century of appearances for the club, where he also held the captain's armband.

After four years at the Lamb, he returned to Nuneaton, helping the Boro’ as they made it to the verge of returning to the National League North. Beswick was virtually ever-present in that side, scoring 11 times in 37 appearances. His first match in charge will see the visit of some familiar faces to Farley Way, as Quorn host, phoenix club, Nuneaton Town at the start of preseason in July.
