NEWS: Quorn Announce Preseason Opener

The Reds will open preseason with a home tie versus phoenix club, Nuneaton Town. Born from the ashes of Nuneaton Borough, who folded last season after being evicted from their Liberty Way home.

The Boro’ managed to survive a nomadic few months, playing every match outside the town, with home games at Hinckley LR, Barwell and Coventry City’s CBS Arena. However, it proved unsustainable and the club were forced to withdraw from step three. Town are expected to begin life in step six.

Just one year ago, they hosted the playoff final against Rushall Olympic, playing for a place in the National League North, but tasting defeat on penalties. Going back just over a decade, Nuneaton enjoyed a spell at the top of the National League, ahead of Luton Town, but the two clubs’ paths would diverge greatly.

The new venture is fan-owned, with hopes that the structure of the club will provide the stability that all football supporters want from their club. And that new chapter will begin at Farley Way on Tuesday the 2nd of July (19:45). The match will also offer a chance for Boro’ fans to honour the memory of Alan ‘Chelsea’ Hudson, as the two clubs have agreed to have a minutes applause before kick-off.

The complete preseason schedule announced so far is:

Nuneaton Town (H) – Tuesday the 2nd of July 2024 (19:45 KO)

Ashby Ivanhoe (H) – Saturday the 6th of July 2024 (14:00 KO)
