SQUAD NEWS: White Joins Reds

Quorn Football Club are delighted to announce that Mitch White has signed for the Reds. White has impressed during a preseason spell that saw the forward hit the back of the net on his debut, scoring the second goal in the 3-1 win over Nuneaton Town in the first friendly of 2024.

Born in West London, but now living in Derbyshire, White began playing football at five years old, with his Mum taking him everywhere to indulge his love of the game. “I made my first senior appearance at the age of 16” explained White, “that was for Gresley Rovers, which helped me earn a scholarship at Burton Albion, where I played full time professional football.”

“After I was released, I signed for AFC Rushden & Diamonds, earning the Man of the Match award on my full debut as we played Tamworth in the season they got promoted to the National League North. I stayed there for two years playing step three and four football. After Rushden, I signed for Wellingborough Town and helped them to win the league last season, so we’ll face them in the NPL Midlands Division this season.”

Now on his way to becoming a Teacher, White has returned to Derbyshire after graduating from the University of Northampton, where he earned a degree in Sports Performance & Coaching. “I reached out to the gaffer a couple of weeks ago as I was looking for a club after university.”

“Last season Quorn were a solid outfit, reaching the play offs, and after spending a few weeks around the club during preseason, you can see the intent and desire to go one step further this season by achieving promotion. I want to be a part of a team that makes a bit of history for this club. Whether that is gaining promotion or qualifying for the first round proper of the FA Cup, I’d like to be able to look back on my career and know that this was the season that we achieved something great.”

Comfortable anywhere across the front three, White has great versatility and can also play in midfield. In two preseason matches so far, Mitch has played behind the front three, scoring against the Boro’ in the first match, and also started up front against Alvechurch.
